Store owner Jen Mattson contacts manufacturers to verify the GMO-free status of all products, including gluten-free. She is finding some manufacturers who are willing to substitute non-GMO ingredients in their gluten-free products.
Product Removal Process
Jen very rarely has any products in the store that doesn't meet store standards, in the event that a product is found she donates any removed products to the local food pantry, and discontinues the item. Jen is currently determining what to do with products that may contain BPAs in their packaging (several brands in the store are advertised as being BPA-free).
The store uses shelf talkers to identify GMO products and other allergens.
